Atlanta Doll Maker’s Guild

The Atlanta Doll Maker’s Guild is a group of fiber artists dedicated to sharing their talents and ideas in helping others connect to the ageless art of cloth doll making and fabric sculpture. The group is made up of all levels of doll makers working in various media. We will meet the third Saturday of every other month at 4:00 pm. Our meeting place is Intown Quilters. We will be very active with different demos, workshops, projects and lectures. Members commit to sharing techniques, participating in challenges and swaps and bringing completed works or works in progress to every meeting. The group plans to host a biannual doll show and sale featuring the work of club members.

    I responded to everyone individually but I thought I would post again here for any last minute questions.

    The only thing you have to do to join the Atlanta Doll Makers Guild is to show up with a passion for dolls and a generosity of spirit. We really want each person to be an active member so please commit to making dolls on a regular basis.

    Please try to bring something to each meeting for show and tell.

    A number of people have written me from places outside of Georgia to ask if they can join too. The answer is YES. I will post meeting minutes and challenges on this site so please stay tuned. Thanks for your interest everyone.

    I am a student trying to make a doll for a project of mine at school. I was wondering if there was a place in town that will help me along if I try to do it myself or a store I should goto. The two dolls are pretty simple in construction, circular (literally) (maybe made of felt) and also a long cylinder shape with eyes and small skinny legs and arms..I don’t know anything about how these are done. Are there books I could buy that show me this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
